What is East and what is West in the context of Europe? How does the prime meridian line in London's Greenwich not only divide the world into the western and eastern hemispheres but also create a symbolic understanding of one's proximity to civilisation? By focusing on Poland, a country in-between the "core" and the "periphery", the director explores how identities may be built on the basis of who we are not, and how this results in the creation of a category of "the Other" that we can burden with all the unwanted traits.
