Surviving Internal Exposure

Surviving Internal Exposure

IMDb 0.0 HD 2012

Following the March 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, massive amounts of radioactive materials were released into the environment, making internal radiation exposure—through breathing and contaminated food or water—a pressing concern for everyone. Director Hitomi Kamanaka interviews four medical experts with vast experience in radiation health effects: Dr. Shuntaro Hida (Hiroshima survivor advocate), Dr. Minoru Kamata (Chernobyl and Iraq medical relief), Dr. Tatsuhiko Kodama (Fukushima field worker), and Dr. Valentina Smolnikova (Chernobyl clinical physician). The documentary cuts through conflicting media narratives to explore how communities can independently understand internal exposure and safeguard human lives.
